easyCar.com has a new CEO
easyCar.com, the car hire branch of the easyGroup, has just hired a new chief executive officer. Bill Jones has already stepped into the new role and assumed his position as the new CEO.
Previous, Bill worked for Hertz Europe as the company's Vice President Marketing & Sales. He held the position for nine years and has also worked in senior management positions at Disneyland Paris, Hogg Robinson Travel and Thomas Cook.
easyCar.com's former CEO, Steve Maltby, left the company at the end of October. The company was launched in 2000 by Stelios, who also founded other easyGroup companies including easyJet.
Stelios said: 'I'm very pleased with the appointment of Bill. He is a senior professional with a great deal of experience in the car rental industry in particular and the travel industry in general, and I'm sure he will be a great asset in developing our business further.'
Since entering the worldwide car hire market, easyCar.com has expanded and now offers car hire in over 60 countries and more than 2,400 destinations.
'Since the start,' Stelios continued, 'as a car rental company in 2000, easyCar has evolved into the more efficient internet-based business model of being a pure online car rental broker and IT is now one of the leading players in Europe. Bill is the perfect candidate to take the company to the next level, which may include an IPO in the next two to three years. In order to achieve that objective, Bill has been tasked to keep the growth rates of the company at high levels in the UK and also to expand further into other European and international markets.'
