Europcar has yet again won coveted World Travel awards.

Europcar has again won a pair of global travel industry awards. The global car-hire company was for the second time voted World’s Leading Green Transport Solution Company and for the fourth time, Europcar was recognised as the World’s Leading Car Hire Company.

The World’s Leading Green Transport Solution is an environmental award and it was first given in 2008. This is the fourth consecutive year Europcar has been named the top car hire firm in the world.

The awards ceremony was held in London on 7 November. With nearly 190,000 professionals taking part in the voting, these are the most prestigious awards in the industry. They recognised the leading companies in each category across seven regions of the world.

Europcar offers hire vehicles that produce less than 140 grammes of carbon dioxide per kilometre. It also has vehicles in its fleet power by alternative engines in hybrid or electric form, and vehicles that can run on biofuels, natural gas or and bioethanol.

Europcar recently inked a deal with automaker PSA to introduce two next-generation electric vehicles to its fleet next year. From 2011, Europcar will offer the Citroen C-Zero and the Peugeot ION.
