Drivers are being warned to expect the worst potholes the UK has ever seen.

As the Arctic conditions that have paralyzed the UK start to recede, the nation’s drivers are being warned that they should prepare to face the worst pothole season ever seen in the UK. Experts say the roads in Britain will be more damaged by this icy weather than the highways have experienced ever before.

The conditions of UK roads are forecast to deteriorate incredibly quickly over future months. The warning was given by spokesperson of the website, Potholes.co.uk.

The web site is operated by insurance provider Warranty Direct. The company says it expects to see a sudden and major increase in the number of claims submitted for damage to axles and suspensions over coming weeks.

Winter weather typically plays havoc with road surfaces, as huge variations in temperature and the effects of both water and ice cause great damage. With the recent icy snap having arrived very suddenly and brought repeated waves of snow, ice, grit and freezing temperatures, the UK road network is expected to need considerable repair work. In the meantime, the many potholes could prove unavoidable, leading to damaged vehicles.
