Traffic to the Isles of Scilly tourism website has spiked amidst rumours William and Kate are to honeymoon there.

Speculation Prince William and his fiancée Kate Middleton might honeymoon in the Isles of Scilly is driving a huge increase in traffic at the website that promotes tourism there. Traffic to the site has gone up by nearly 300 per cent.

Hits on the website that promotes tourism in the Isles of Scilly have spiked as people try to get more information about the islands. The internet traffic is being driven by recent rumours that the royal couple are planning to head to the Scilly Isles for their honeymoon.

On a single day last week, the website Simply Scilly saw 78,000 hits (visits by people using web browsers). This was almost three times as much as the site normally receives. The number of times the Scilly Isles brochure is downloaded also doubled.

The increased traffic at the web site has come from various parts of Great Britain, as well as mainland Europe and the USA. In 1989, Prince William holidayed on Scilly with his mother, father and brother Prince Harry.

On 29 April, Prince William and girlfriend Kate Middleton are to marry at Westminster Abbey. Buckingham Palace has refused to comment on speculation as to the destination for the royal couple’s honeymoon.
