US car hire giant Hertz has rebranded its Connect car sharing service.

The Hertz company has rebranded its car sharing service. The service, formally known as Connect by Hertz is now called Hertz on Demand.

The US company made the announcement during the unveiling of its new strategy, aimed at upgrading what is meant by car sharing. The company is redefining the experience, in a bid to expand its business by introducing lower costs, enhanced benefits for members, new locations and new vehicles.

The strategy also includes the addition of the latest customer support and in-car technology. Hertz began rolling out several new initiatives over the last few weeks.

The changes that began a few weeks ago are aimed at boosting consumers’ strength. They include getting rid of membership charges, expanded one-way services, a greater selection of vehicles that includes plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles at special locations, a more-straightforward reservation process that handles booking in all available cities and countries, and a continuation of the company’s focus on member service that includes live, 24/7 in-car assistance.

Hertz also vowed to provide a range of additional enhancements to the programme over the coming weeks and months. Mark Frissora, the Hertz chairman and CEO, said the Hertz On Demand service reflects the company’s commitment to radically improving car-sharing experiences and promoting it to an even higher level be cutting costs for members, giving them greater choice, simplifying the process and providing unrivalled customer service.
