Car hire giant Europcar has unveiled its new low-cost rental brand.

Officials from the company said on Wednesday that the new firm – InterRent - will focus on leisure travellers in the budget travel market in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Portugal and France.

The company will officially launch commercial operations in April, with initial rental outlets located primarily at airports and near major rail stations, according to an official Europcar press release.

Europcar Group’s chief executive Roland Keppler said in a statement that the launch will represent a “key achievement” in the Europcar strategy via catering to the needs of a growing market.

Similarly, the new brand’s director Jehan de Thé said that InterRent will embrace the philosophy of “drive, save, enjoy” and will also focus its efforts on quality of service and a client-based experience. He added that the company is aiming to double its initial presence and expand to areas outside of its European base by the end of next year.

Officials said that 12-month marketing efforts have been launched in all five of the firm’s initial markets to coincide with the launch.
